NOTICE OF COUNCIL VACANCY AND INTENT TO APPOINT
Notice is hereby given that a vacancy has occurred on the Daingerfield City Council due to the death of a sitting councilmember. In accordance with the City’s Home Rule Charter and applicable Texas state law, the City Council intends to fill this vacancy by appointment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates for appointment to the City Council must meet the following qualifications:
- Be a resident of the State of Texas for at least 12 months prior to the date of appointment.
- Be a resident of the City of Daingerfield at least 6 months prior to the date of appointment.
- Be a qualified voter within the City of Daingerfield.
- Be at least 18 years of age at the time of appointment.
- Not currently indebted to the City.
- Not hold any other public elective office or employment with the City.
APPLICATION PROCESS:
Interested and qualified individuals are invited to submit a letter of interest detailing their qualifications, experience, and commitment to serving the community. Applications may be submitted in person to the City Secretary’s office at City Hall or by email to amanda.sanders@cityofdaingerfield.com no later than June 13, 2025.
The City Council will review applications and may conduct interviews with selected candidates prior to making an appointment. The appointee will serve until the next regular city election, at which time the seat will be filled by election for the remainder of the unexpired term.
